Welcome Band Members

In order to raise awareness and get support from Burnaby North Secondary  we wrote a proposal called “Building the Road to Excellence, Burnaby North Marching Band, Request for Support”. It outlines a wish list of requirements, possible directions the band could grow and benefits for the school.  This letter is an accumulation of information gathered from Band Members, alumni, parents and Mr. Wenzek. We believe it is representative of resources the band will need in order to move up to the next level.

A summary of the letter has been sent home for student and parent’s signature and should be returned to the band manager Carrie Li, by October 10th. The complete letter is available here Building the Road to Excellence.

Please take the time to read the letter. Your signature is a show of support which will go a long way towards convincing the school that the Marching Band is an important community and well worth their support.

On Tuesday October 3rd we will be doing a brain storming exercise to help build a list of band goals and to identify what the band members believes is important to accomplish during the next year. In advance of the meeting we would like you to prepare for the discussion by reading over the questions and taking some time to think about what is important to you and what would you like to get out of the band this year.

A New Year is Upon Us!

Welcome to all of our new members - what an exciting year we have a head of us!  We are pleased that you have chosen to be a part of this outstanding program. This year we have more teacher support than ever, and look forward to leaning new skills and music for upcoming parades and events.

Remember that marching band practices are ever Tuesday and Friday from 3:15 to 4:15 in the band room and that our next practice will be dedicated to a brainstorming activity designed to identify some band goals.
